I was born in Oporto / Portugal. I’ve made high school studies but I quit high school to embrace a career in professional sports and Arts.
Between 1978 and 1983 I was the mentor of one of the most complete and astonishing art groups in Portugal. My group was composed by musicians, painters, and film makers.
Our ideal was the “Ars Aephemera”. Which means: Ephemeral Art. In those years, Punk Culture invaded the world. At the time we wanted to be different and with true intentions on art – we were Anti-Punk. We were cultivated, professionals and with superb musical technique. We played in happenings, performances, and live musical shows where Classical Music, Jazz and Improvisation were the main goal of the artists. We refused record deals, exhibits in art galleries, talking to the press, and we refused any kind of personal cult. I was the guitarist, composer, screenwriter and painter at the time. We used to begin the shows by painting the scenery, and then I picked up my guitar or my synthesizer and played all night long hypnotic tunes. I participated, at the time, in unforgettable live shows and performances that made history in Portuguese Art for more than a decade, with a great success in the audiences.
Then I went bankrupt and I was disappointed with Art. I renounced to Art for several years.
After a few years, I began to write stage plays and started again with Painting in 1998.
Now, as a writer, I have been distinguished with literary prizes in Portugal, Germany and Spain. My plays have been staged in several cities in Portugal with a huge success of public and press, and were staged in countries like the United States, Pakistan and Thailand.
I’m published in anthologies and books in Portugal, Germany, England, Canada, The United States and India. As in everything else I am a self-taught painter. Everything I’ve learned, I’ve learned in books or with friends.
I’ve made a personal exhibitions in small galleries. Portugal is a very difficult country for artists with unique views.
I sell to private collectors my best artwork, and in February 2005 I’ll make a personal exhibition in Oporto in an University gallery.
